About Boldly-Go Career Coaching

Boldly-Go Career Coaching offers a tried and tested approach (incorporating the Firework ™ Career Coaching process) which enables you to dream big about career possibilities, explore options, bring into focus what it is you want, make choices, set a direction of travel and take action – with stacks of support and encouragement along the way.

Boldly-Go Career Coaching will help you uncover what it is that you uniquely bring – your strengths, values, your passions, abilities and skills because the more we know about ourselves, the better able we are to position ourselves for the right work and career for us.

Career Coaching will help you figure out what it is you really want in your career as well as identify options and possibilities that you wouldn’t have identified on your own; it will support you in staying focused, making choices, developing plans and taking positive action around your career goals.

At the end of the process you will have a clearer picture of what you want, which talents and strengths you want to employ and as a result you will feel more assured and committed in moving forward. Clients also say that a by-product of career coaching is renewed self- confidence and increased feelings of well-being.

As a coach Sarah has the ability to unlock new perspectives and help you significantly grow in a short space of time. When I started the coaching I wasn’t clear on my career goals or how I wanted to shift my leadership style. Now I have a clear sense of purpose and a vision for the future. On a personal level this has meant I’m happier and my wellbeing has improved. For my business it means I’m able to lead more effectively, in a much more authentic and human way.

How it works

For people who are thinking about a complete career change Firework ™ Career Coaching process works in three phases – Explore, Dream and Discover.

The Explore phase is all about you getting clear about what you want from both your life and your work. To help you make a sound choice about your career choice, you need to know what you want from your life outside work too.

You complete interesting, thought provoking exercises away from your coaching sessions and we then dig deep into your answers to uncover the really important information about you. This phase gives you a blueprint of yourself.

In the second Dream phase, you generate exciting new career options. And because you understand who you are and what you want from Explore, you can judge how good a match these options are for you.

When you’ve chosen the option that’s the best match for you, in the final Discover phase you create a plan to take you to where you want to be.

Practicalities

The Boldly-Go Career Coaching programme typically comprises 12 sessions. The first session – the “Discovery session” is 2 hours with subsequent sessions being one hour. Sessions take place around every 3 weeks spread over a 4 -5 month period to maintain momentum, maximise accountability and support action.

Programme packages can be adapted to suit client circumstances and requirements with longer/shorter sessions available as per requirements. We use Strengths Profiler as an integral part of the programme with the option to use and Clarity 4D Personality preference tool.

Sessions take place in mutually convenient central London locations as well as in Oxted, Surrey and surrounding areas. Where people live further afield coaching sessions can also take place over the phone or via Skype or Zoom as appropriate.

Fees vary depending on specific packages and are on a sliding scale dependent on client circumstances.

Without Sarah I honestly don’t think I would have had the confidence to secure a new role; her support, tools and guidance in how to deal with my anxiety and doubts about joining a new employer in a more senior role has been fantastic.

About your Career Coach

I’ve sat where you are sitting now – a bit stuck/confused/self-doubting/frustrated/speculating/hopeful (*insert as appropriate) and understand what is involved in making a career change (one of mine was the transition from Marketing leadership role to my current career as a Leadership, Career and Team coach) and I believe that, whilst it may not always be a straightforward or easy journey, if you are really invested in making a career change that it is possible for you. I’ve made a number of big changes throughout my career and I’m pretty certain that if I hadn’t worked with the passionate, talented Leadership and Career coaches throughout my life that I wouldn’t be doing the fulfilling work I do today.

Many years ago I was in a marketing manager role in a tech company; whilst I liked and respected my marketing colleagues I felt really disconnected from the business and didn’t really buy into the vision and mission. I also had a boss whose idea of motivation was to focus in on every minute detail of my work and criticise it… I was feeling quite low and demoralised when one of my colleagues mentioned that she had a friend who was training as a coach and was looking for practice clients and was I interested. I jumped at the chance and within 3 months had 2 job offers for new marketing roles in organisations much more aligned with my values and my personal areas of interest.

Fast forward 5 years or so – some big life stuff happened to me which really make me sit back and evaluate who I was and how and where I was investing my time and energy. After a fairly unhappy and unsettled time and period of reflection (which others might call a mid life crisis…?) I decided I wanted to follow a long held fascination with what makes people tick and how people can bring the best of themselves into their work and lives and to train to be a coach. At the time I was working full time in a senior marketing role at the British Library – I’d done a variety of roles while I was there and was in a role which I enjoyed very much in many ways.

But what I was discovering was the work that lit me up was the team development stuff, working one to one with my team to nurture and bring the best out in them rather than my marketing responsibilities. I started to feel stuck and a bit trapped, started to worry that I might become a “lifer” and at the back of my mind had a nagging feeling that I could have a far greater impact by supporting peoples personal and professional development. When the organisation initiated another large scale change initiative I decided that, having played a key role in leading the previous one, it really was time for me to make a change.

And this was the start of my transition from one career to another, the process of shedding one skin and growing in to another.

I’m sharing this because I’ve sat where you’re sitting now – a bit stuck/ confused/self- doubting/ frustrated/speculating/hopeful (*insert as appropriate) and understand what is involved in making a career change (one of mine was the transition from a senior Marketing role to my current career as a Leadership, Career and Team coach) and I believe that if you are really invested in making a career change that it is possible for you. I’ve made a number of big changes throughout my career and I’m pretty certain that if I hadn’t worked with the passionate, talented Leadership and Career coaches throughout my life that I wouldn’t be doing the fulfilling work I do today.

In terms of what it’s like to work with me – my clients report that I’m approachable and upbeat, work creatively and intuitively, balancing a sense of fun with positive challenge whilst creating a supportive and encouraging environment which brings out the best in people.

As a coach I bring 10 years of coaching experience from leadership coaching with those in, and on their way to, senior leadership roles through to working with talented professionals who want make changes in their professional lives. Sectors I work with regularly include publishing, media, arts & heritage and the public sector.

In my coaching I blend Co-Active, NLP and Leadership Embodiment approaches with Firework ™ and systems/constellations work dependent on what is most useful for each client.
